Ready to learn how to achieve your goals?
Goal setting and planning is one of the most important strategies you could implement into your life or business.
Without an exact blueprint you will not have a clear vision of how to actually set up your goal or achieve it.
This goal setting plan is going to actually help you stick to your goals so that you actually achieve them.
In this blog post, I’m going to share with you the actual strategy that I use twice a year to plan my goals and how I do it without sacrificing time with my family.
How To Achieve Your Goals Without Sacrificing Time With Your Family
Since we’ll be talking today about goal setting, I’m giving you my Goal Setting Workbook so you can see how I set my goals and break them down without sacrificing time or my family.

Have you ever set BIG goals for yourself, but also had the thought of how much you’re going to have to sacrifice to get there?
Plan Your Goal Setting Session To Achieve Your Goals
At the end of each year, I sit down and evaluate my goals for the new year. I love to plan my goal setting session because it really sets me up with the bigger picture of what I’m working towards going into the new year. It also creates tons of momentum in my business once January hits.
Unplugging for a whole day designated to planning out your goals for the next 6 months can be the difference between reaching every single one of your goals or falling short. The reason being is because all you’re really doing is creating an action plan for the next 6 months. Think of this as creating a roadmap to success instead of just being willy nilly in your day to day.A goal without a plan is just a wish. Click To Tweet
So if you haven’t started already, you’re not too late to get your strategy planned out.
So how I begin brainstorming my goals is by asking myself:
➡️“What do I want to accomplish this year?”
➡️“How many people do I want to impact and inspire this year?”
➡️“What’s my mission statement?”
➡️“What kind of income/profit goals do I have for myself?”
If you know what your goals are you can create a custom blueprint to ensure success!
This will work for you no matter what type of goal your striving for or business you’re building. These could be family goals, relationship goals, financial goals, business goals, etc.
Let’s get started so you can see exactly how I lay this out.
Start Your Goal Setting Session with Goal Categories
Before you just get all over the place and abusing that pen and paper with your goals, make sure to list out some categories. This is so powerful at the beginning of the year because it forces you to really think about what you want for your family, health, business, income, etc.
Here are some examples of categories that you should be considering goals for:
Grab a FREE copy of my Goal Setting Workbook and print it out! It has all of these categories laid out for you so you can achieve your goals.
Fill in some basic goals like “Earn $500 more a month,” or “Lose 15 lbs” in the categories that apply and then we’re gonna start breaking them down in actionable steps. This will help you create new habits so that resolution turns into an accomplishment!
Goal Setting – Reverse Engineer Your Goal
I’m going to show you below an example if you are in the business of course creation, however you can apply this technique to any goal.
So let’s say you want to achieve your goal of launching a new online course in 90 days.
Now let’s reverse engineer that goal in the example below!
- Come up with a course idea
- List out all your ideas for a course that will create passive income online
- Use market research to qualify if it’s something your target audience needs/wants
- Poll your target audience in facebook groups or any other platform and find out if this is something they need that could solve a problem.
- Outline the videos and content for the course
- Create an outline on paper or using Google Docs of your course before your create the actual content
- Record and edit the videos
- Once your outline is complete, start recording and editing the content so it will be ready for use.
- Launch the course
- Launching includes many steps like having people test out the course and giving feedback and reviews, creating a sales page, and email automations, and then marketing the course.
Now that you have all steps laid out to actually completing the goal you can plug them into a calendar and set mini goals over the next 90 days. This will provide you with a blueprint of how to accomplish the BIG GOAL of having the course created and ready to go in 90 days.
You could do this with your team or individual sales goals as well if you have a network marketing business. Start with the big number goal, time frame, and number of people working the business and then reverse engineer it. How much would you or your team need to do in volume each day or week to hit the goal and how many people are working towards that goal?
- What it will take to get there in points or dollar amount – ex. 100,00
- And let’s say you now take a snapshot of where you’re at as far as points or dollar amount and figure out how much more you’ll need
- What more is needed for your team – 50,000
- Then figure out what the average points/volume are for every kit sold
- Average kit sold = 500 points/volume
- Need to sell 100 kits
- So basically you now know you’ll need to sell 100 kits to hit that volume benchmark and if you’re in network marketing you now know that you can map out how your team will impact you reaching this goal. The beauty of network marketing is that you’re not running alone.
- So now you can figure out who’s running with you? – Let’s say you have 5 Leaders + Yourself = 6 runners
- Each of you have to do 16.6 kits within 90 days
- That’s 5.33 kits each month for the next 90 days
Hopefully you are now seeing the beauty of goal setting and creating a strategy instead of just wishing and hoping! It literally gives you the exact steps to make sure you hit it.
Goal Setting – Break It Down
This is one of my favorite parts about goal setting. It’s time to break that goal down into bite sized chunks. Now we can actually take action and work towards achieving it. Let’s start with S.M.A.R.T goals!
Your goals should be SMART!
S.M.A.R.T Goals >>>>
Specific – Clearly define what you want to achieve.
Measureable – Define how to quantify your achievement for this goal.
Attainable – Is this something that can be achieved?
Realistic – Is this something that can be achieved given your resources and time?
Time-based – Always give yourself a deadline and stick to it.
Now that you’ve learned how to reverse engineer the goal and break it down into actionable steps, it’s time to TAKE ACTION! Take all of that data you created above and make actionable steps to achieving it here. The template I’ve provided with you in this post will help you do this as well. The distance between dreams and reality is called ACTION! Click To Tweet
Goal Setting – Time Block Your Action Steps
Now if you’re anything like me, setting a goal means getting down to business. Sometimes I get a little to obsessed with achieving a goal because I’m super competitive with myself. I think we can both agree this can sometimes be a bad thing and a setback.
If working towards your goals gets in the way of family time and starts to negatively affect your life then it’s time to learn a new strategy.
Sidenote —>>> This was me two years ago and I started to negatively impact my marriage and my family. I knew something had to change so I learned everything I could about automating my business so I could get more time freedom in my life. Get my Top 10 Time Management Tips to learn more about how I depend on time management in my life and business.
I promise mama, you can still achieve a goal without it taking over your life or sacrificing your family.
Now that you have actual tasks to works towards you can easily take them and insert them into your schedule. Whether you time block with a planner, a google sheet, Asana, or google calendar you can plug these actions in to a specific time that works for you and doesn’t become a full time job.
Goal Setting – Review, Revise, and Modify if Needed
One of the most important parts to goal setting is reviewing your goals. Make sure to review them weekly or monthly depending on the time frame you’ve given yourself.
Make sure to review your 90 day goal each month and ask yourself:
-Am I on track to hitting this goal? Why or why not?
-Does my goal need revised? If you came up short one month, you may need to take on additional volume or tasks to the next month.
Modifying your goals is so important to keep yourself on track and hold yourself accountable. Don’t allow yourself to give up on your goals just because you didn’t meet them in the time frame you had hoped. Revisit, revise, and modify as necessary!
Achieve Your Goals with Goal Setting – In Conclusion
Remember when you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
You need to know where your going or else you’ll go nowhere.
So start off by blocking out a day that you and your team, business partner or upline can start a goal setting session and plan your next 6 months.
And remember to use My Goal Setting Workbook so you can see how I set my goals and break them down while also having a template to do the same for you and your business.
